STACY'S DOWNTOWN WATCH: ISSUES & UPDATES

Updated on November 2025

Hello Neighbors!

We wanted to share some important updates and answer the questions you’ve been asking about life downtown. Thanks so much for staying engaged and if you are dealing with an issue around safety, trash, new ideas, etc. come to the next DNA board meeting and lets see how we can solve it together.  Our voices are STRONGER TOGETHER!

Community Update: Landscaping & Tree Canopy Projects

255 Evernia Strand ROW
We reviewed the maintenance agreement for the Strand, and it shows that the Strand is responsible for all the trees and landscaping around their building—just like most other properties. The section we have covers Landscaping and Maintenance only. If anyone from the Strand needs the full agreement, they can get a copy from the City Clerk’s Office.

Final Tree Canopy Project
We’ve been updating the 2019 Tree Canopy study to reflect what’s changed since then. Costs have gone up, contractors are busier, and some areas have already been improved by new construction. Our goal is to make the biggest impact we can with our $200,000 budget—focusing on places that don’t need major infrastructure work.

Here’s where things stand:

  • Location 1: Done! 🌿
  • Location 2: Irrigation repairs are wrapping up, and Oak tree planting should start in the next few weeks.
  • Locations 5 & 6: These will need more construction, so timing and cost will decide when we move forward.
  • Location 7: Still under review—we’ll take another look when we reach Location 5 to see what’s most practical.

We’re excited to keep improving our community’s green spaces and appreciate everyone’s patience as we move through each phase!

If you have any questions or issues regarding upcoming events, please contact your condo manager. They will forward your concerns to the appropriate city representative for follow-up.

Holiday lights are going up — it’s an exciting time of year in West Palm Beach! The iconic Sandy Tree is currently being sculpted, and we encourage everyone to stop by and watch as this beautiful creation comes to life.

DNA Offers Downtown Ride-Along With Present and Future City Officials

To better educate the hidden issues downtown, we at the DNA have been taking present and future candidates on ride-along to show them issues and opportunities.  This has been a great way to show what the residents feel are important in our downtown.

Why Are There Black Cones at CityPlace?

Several residents have asked about the black cones placed in parking areas around CityPlace. We reached out for clarification and learned that these cones are a temporary measure to prevent quick stops by food delivery services and rideshare drivers like Uber Eats.

CityPlace management is aware of the situation and is actively working on a better, more permanent solution to accommodate delivery drivers without disrupting regular parking or traffic flow.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about the improvements being planned!

Community Update: Tri-Rail Beautification Efforts Underway

We’re happy to share that Tri-Rail has recently taken steps to improve the area around the bridge! The cleanup is already making a noticeable difference, and even more improvements are on the way. Tri-Rail has announced plans to repaint the bridge and enhance the surrounding landscape with additional tree planting.

It’s wonderful to see this kind of investment in our community, and we look forward to the continued beautification of the area.

Safety Barricades for Events

We’re working closely with the DDA and City leaders on the best way to keep everyone safe during downtown events. Options include permanent barricades, removable ones, or a mix of both. You might notice some new portable Mifram barricades popping up soon, starting with the GreenMarket. We’ll keep you posted as things develop!

Affordable Housing

We know affordable and workforce housing is a big concern. We’ve reached out to key City officials and are waiting to hear back with any updates on new projects or timelines. We’ll share what we learn with you as soon as we do.

GreenMarket is Back!

We’re excited to announce the GreenMarket opens on Saturday, October 4th, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM! This year’s theme is From the Ground Up, celebrating our amazing local farmers and makers. Expect more vendors, longer hours, and a season that runs through May. Can’t wait to see you there!

Noise at Meyer Amphitheater

Some of you shared concerns about volume and language during recent events. We talked to Angela Poco, the City’s Events Manager, and she assures us staff will be onsite at upcoming events like the Celis Anniversary and R&B Picnic Fest to keep things respectful and enjoyable for all.

Clean-Up and Safety Shoutouts

  • That overflowing garbage on the middle bridge? It’s all cleaned up, and we haven’t seen issues since.

  • Crime downtown remains low—thanks to Officer Seth Buxton for keeping us in the loop!

  • Thanks to community members who alerted us about debris around Clear Lake—it was quickly cleaned and looks great again!

Noise Ordinance & Bar Noise

If you want to check out the noise rules, here’s the link:
Noise Ordinance – West Palm Beach
On the nightlife front, Respectables now stops outdoor music at midnight, and Roxy’s has added sound barriers to help keep things quieter. We’ve already seen a drop in noise complaints, so thank you for your patience.

Traffic & Security Updates

We heard your concerns about the FHP officer near the Hibiscus Garage. Officer Jamie Harter explained their role in helping manage traffic and keeping the area safe. Plus, construction at Currie Park officially kicked off back in May, and we encourage you to join future meetings for updates.

Trees & Tri-Rail Safety

We’re working with Tri-Rail on requests to plant new trees along Clearwater Street. They’re the ones responsible for that area’s landscaping, and we’re getting the right contacts to move this forward. Allied Security oversees safety at the Tri-Rail Station, and we’re making sure you’ll have a direct contact soon.

Got questions or want to get involved?
We’d love to hear from you! Reach out anytime at [your email/contact info] or come to our next community meeting. Together, we’re building a safer, cleaner, and friendlier downtown for everyone.

Thanks for being part of this community!

Warmly,
Stacy
