August 2023

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

SF HeadshotIt's August, and things are really heating up - not just with the weather, but with the incredible progress we've made as a community! Thanks to the actions led by the DNA and our residents, on July 24th, the City Commission unanimously voted to terminate the procurement process with City Harbor, and as a result, the marina will no longer move forward.

As a collective voice for residents, the DNA's advocacy has made a significant impact in shaping the future of our city.  As we move forward, its even more important that we have a strong member base. We all need to remain vigilant with regards to the waterfront, because development forces will certainly try again. If you are not a member, become a member and ask your friends and neighbors to join and together, let's work hand in hand to create a thriving and sustainable community.

Looking forward to seeing you at the FREE DNA event Neighbors Unite: Building Solutions for Downtown Homelessness - A Welcome Reception & Panel Discussion  on September 20th at PB Dramaworks.

PAST DNA EVENTS

The DNA Movin & Groovin: How Downtown Gets Around! was a fantastic event judging by the packed room and feedback at the Historical Society Courthouse. As our city experiences unprecedented growth, it's important to address the growing pains that come with it, particularly in terms of mobility and congestion. Our expert panelists shared information and of course we left plenty of time for museum tours and mingling.

The best part? This DNA event was FREEDon't let the next DNA event slip through your fingers. Become a member today!

As a follow-up to this event, you might be interested in providing your input into the City's Action plan.

The City is updating its Rethink Paradise Sustainability Action Plan (RPP) and is seeking public input to help improve and prioritize the plan. The RPP is designed to address resilience challenges that meet the community’s present needs while preserving resources for future generations; balancing human needs with the needs of our cultural and natural environments.

The Community Input Form will should take 15 minutes to complete. If you would like to request a paper version of the form, contact the Office of Sustainability at 561-804-4994 or send an email to [email protected].
