Understanding the Property Development Process in WPB

When can residents have a voice in new development?

Development in downtown West Palm Beach can be complex, with multiple steps, reviews, and opportunities for public input. As part of our work with the Neighborhood Partnership Network, the group asked the City to provide a clear overview of the entire property development process—from the initial proposal through final approval and construction.

As a result, the City developed this guide to help residents understand what happens, who makes the decisions, and most importantly, when and how residents can provide input.

If you see a project in downtown West Palm Beach and aren't sure where it stands in the process, DNA can help you understand where to find information and how to participate.  You can also search for Building Permits, Engineering Permits, and Planning & Zoning applications here.

Stay informed. Stay involved. Know when your voice matters.

This guide is intended as an educational resource for residents. Development procedures and requirements can change, so residents should refer to the City of West Palm Beach www.wpb.org/planning for the most current official information.
